The Palazzo Murat is an elegant hotel created from the restoration of an eighteenth century palace in the style of Neapolitan baroque Vanvitelli’s school. The precious decor, the period furniture and the magnificent location makes this Palace a unique place in the world. Gioacchino Murat, brother-in-law of Napoleone Bonaparte, became king of Naples in 1808,he was captivated by the extraordinary beauty of Positano and the charm of this old palace that decided to turn in his summer residence. The veiled elegance of Palazzo Murat has also charmed other great personalities, writers such as Steinbeck and Semenov, Giovanni Zagoruiko and Escher and worldwide known dancers such as Carla Fracci and Rudolph Nurejev…

"Palazzo Murat enjoys a prime position just off Positano’s main drag down to the beach, yet is shielded from the worst of the crowds by its lush, exotic garden. With lovely rooms, an excellent restaurant, a small pool and an air of aristocratic living, it’s one of the nicest hotels in the town centre. " This 18th century, L-shaped palazzo was once home to Joachim Murat, king of Naples and brother-in-law to Napoleon, and there is an air of grandeur (but not pomposity) about the place, especially in the vaulted public rooms with their antiques and fine paintings. An elegant wrought-iron gateway leads into the enticing arched courtyard, dripping with bougainvillea and shaded by big white umbrellas.
